Sophie Sam (She/Her/Hers) is an NYC based director and multi-hyphenate artist.
Recent directing credits include Pluto is Listening by David James Parr at Under St. Marks Theater, and Love is Blurry by Emily/BUBECK as part of SERIALS hosted at The Tank. Regional work includes Manic Pixie Nightmare by Kimi Handa Brown at the National Women’s Theatre Festival (Winner - Jury’s Choice for Best Direction), and the world premiere of The Question Game by Ashley Lauren Rogers at Trans Theatre Fest.
Sophie is the author of Buffering, a new play that recently received a reading with The Bechdel Group.
As a trans artist, sophie is dedicated to telling stories that elevate and empower the voices of women and the LGBTQIA+ community.
As an actress, you can catch her in the award-winning webseries Northbound. She recently performed in a developmental reading of The Feminine Urge by Caleb Dukes with Daisy Theatricals at New York City Center.
She is an alumna of the National Theater Institute, and has a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and Entertainment Arts from Northern Michigan University.
Sophie is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.
